Microsoft just aired their first Gates and Seinfeld ad, all I can say is “What the hell?!?”.

You can watch it below, and if you have any idea what it means, please leave a comment, it makes little to no sense to me.

OS X working on the Acer Aspire One!

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Just a quick update, but I’ve managed to get OS X working on my Acer Aspire One using Kalyway’s 10.5.2 disc. So far, no luck with wireless as with most laptops, but I’ll be searching around for some drivers that could possibly work with it.

Update: I haven’t found a way to get wireless working, If anyone does find out how, please email me!

As for the guide, I followed Paul’s Complete Guide to install OS X on the Wind, and since the hardware is very similar, it worked on the Aspire One. You can view his guide here.

Acer Aspire One Review

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

Acer has a reputation of selling ridiculously cheap laptops. The problem with selling the laptop’s for such a low price is that the components and build quality are also cheap. With the Acer Aspire One, it has none of those. Acer has done a surprisingly good job with their mini note, and having it close to the price of Asus’ EeePC, they’ve entered the game as a very strong competitor.

I picked up the $349 version at Staples, it has quite a decent feature list for the price.

  • 1.60GHz Intel Atom Processor N270
  • 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (expandable to 1.5GB)
  • 8GB NAND flash SSD
  • 8.9” WSVGA Acer CrystalBrite Technology (1024 x 600) TFT LCD
  • 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN
  • Acer InviLink 802.11b/g Wi-Fi certified network connection
  • Integrated Acer Crystal Eye webcam
  • High Definition audio support with two built-in stereo speakers
  • Multi-in-1 Card Reader, SD Card reader for storage expansion, 3 USB 2.0, External display (VGA) port, Headphone/speaker/line-out jack microphone jack, Ethernet (RJ-45)
  • Linpus Linux Lite
  • 9.8”W x 6.7”D x 1.14”H
  • Weight: 2.19 lbs
  • 1-Year International Travelers Warranty.

Pictures and more after the jump!

So who said that Mozilla fixed Firefox’s Memory usage?

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Just doing some browsing today in Firefox 3, so I open Task Manager and to my surprise, look how much memory firefox.exe is using!!

WHAAAAA!?!?!!? I only have 10 tabs open in two windows, with about 14 add ons installed!

Fully closing Firefox brought it back down to 70mb.

A very tasty dessert: Frozen Chocolate Covered Mangoes

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

As Homer Simpson said, “Mmmmm… Chocolate covered anything.”  I’ve found a great, easy to make, and very tasty dessert. Frozen Chocolate Covered Mangoes.

There are two different ways to make them, cubes or slabs

Start by peeling the mangoes. Since they have a large pit, you will need to cut around the pit. If you decide to make slabs, cut the mango in to large slabs, insert a popsicle stick in to the bottom, then put them in the freezer on a piece of wax paper for a few hours.

Once they are frozen, you will need to melt some chocolate. I use Toblerone since it is a great tasting chocolate and isn’t too expensive. Once it is melted, dip the frozen mangoes into the melted chocolate. The melted chocolate will stick pretty well onto the mango, you can put as much chocolate as you like on to them. Put them back into the freezer for a few minutes if you want the chocolate to be hard.

If you want to make cubes, its even easier. Once you’ve peeled the mangoes, dice them up into decent sized cubes. You can either dip them into the melted chocolate before or after you freeze them.

There you have it, a tasty and easy to make dessert.

Redflagdeals.com Best Deal Ever Contest

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Redflagdeals.com, possibly the best deal community on the web, is currently running a contest in which they are giving away two Asus eeePC 900’s.

So without further ado, here is my best deal ever.

It was a bright and sunny day, the perfect kind of day for a price match. Staples had the Logitech G7 for $20, meanwhile Futureshop had it on for $130. Staples had one in stock, and for $20, that was a great price, but I knew I could get it cheaper. I quickly headed over to Futureshop. There was no line at the customer service desk, so I grabbed two G7’s from the shelf. I had a print out from Staples website, and I asked the Customer Service Representative to price match the G7 with Staples. She gave them a call even though I had the printout, Staples confirmed that it was $20, and with the 110% price guarantee, I got two G7’s for $7 each plus tax. Absolutely great mice for a dead cheap price. You can’t get much better than that.
